There were no reports of serious injuries or property damage. The cause of the fire was being investigated.

.SYNOPSIS...A RIDGE NEAR THE ISLANDS WILL PROVIDE LIGHT WINDS AND
DRY WEATHER THROUGH WEDNESDAY. AN APPROACHING FRONT WILL PRODUCE
SOUTH WINDS AND INCREASING SHOWERS ON KAUAI AND OAHU ON THURSDAY.
CLOUDS AND SHOWERS ALONG THE FRONT WILL REACH KAUAI FRIDAY AND PUSH
DOWN TO MAUI ON SATURDAY. THE FRONT WILL BREAK UP ON SUNDAY AND WE
WILL HAVE ONE DAY OF TRADE-WIND WEATHER. NEXT MONDAY...WINDS WILL BE
SHIFTING TO THE SOUTHEAST AS ANOTHER FRONT APPROACHES.

.DISCUSSION...CLOUDS ARE ISOLATED OVER THE ISLANDS EXCEPT FOR SMALL
PATCHES OF LOW CLOUDS OVER WINDWARD AREAS. THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE
SITS JUST NORTH OF KAUAI SO SURFACE WINDS ARE FROM THE EAST NEAR THE
BIG ISLAND VEERING TO SOUTH SOUTHEAST NEAR KAUAI. WITH THE RIDGE SO
CLOSE...WINDS AROUND THE ISLANDS WILL BE RATHER LIGHT AND PARTLY
BLOCKED BY THE BIG ISLAND AND MAUI. LOCAL SEA BREEZES WILL FORM
TODAY WITH CLOUDS BUILDING UP OVER INTERIOR AREAS. THE ATMOSPHERE IS
STABLE BUT ISOLATED AFTERNOON SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE OVER INTERIOR
AREAS. THE SURFACE RIDGE WILL REMAIN NEAR THE ISLANDS THROUGH
WEDNESDAY AND RIDGING ALOFT WILL KEEP THE ATMOSPHERE RELATIVELY
STABLE. THE WEATHER WILL CHANGE LITTLE THROUGH TOMORROW...WITH LIGHT
WINDS... CLEAR NIGHTS AND MORNINGS...AND CLOUDS AND SHOWERS OVER
INTERIOR AREAS IN THE AFTERNOONS AND EVENING.

THE COMPUTER MODELS REMAIN IN PRETTY GOOD AGREEMENT THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. THE MODELS SHOW A TROUGH ALOFT AND AN ASSOCIATED FRONT
APPROACHING FROM THE NORTHWEST ON THURSDAY. CONVERGENT SOUTH WINDS
NEAR KAUAI AND OAHU WILL START CARRYING SHOWERS OVER THE ISLANDS
FROM THE SOUTH. SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT WILL REACH KAUAI
ON FRIDAY AND PUSH DOWN TO MAUI BY SATURDAY MORNING...WEAKENING TO A
SHEARLINE AS IT GOES. THE TROUGH ALOFT WILL PRODUCE ENOUGH
INSTABILITY THAT THERE WILL BE A CHANCE OF HEAVY SHOWERS ALONG THE
FRONTAL BAND. THE MODELS HAVE BEEN WAVERING A BIT ON HOW FAST THE
FRONT WILL MOVE AND HOW FAR SOUTHEAST IT WILL REACH...BUT IT LOOKS
AS IF THERE WILL BE LITTLE LEFT OF THE FRONT TO AFFECT THE BIG
ISLAND.

THE COMPUTER MODELS DIVERGE CONSIDERABLY STARTING EARLY NEXT WEEK.
THERE IS GENERAL AGREEMENT THAT ANOTHER TROUGH ALOFT WILL DIG
SOUTHEAST TOWARDS THE ISLANDS...BUT THE VARIOUS MODEL RUNS SHOW BIG
DIFFERENCES IN THE STRENGTH AND TIMING. WE WILL PROBABLY SEE
UNSETTLED WEATHER BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK BUT THE FORECAST WILL
REMAIN UNCERTAIN TILL THE MODELS SETTLE DOWN.
