The fist week of July saw very hot temperatures across many desert areas. The high temperature in Phoenix on the 4th was 116 degrees. The remainder of the month was also hot, with an average monthly temperature of 95.8 degrees in Phoenix...which was the 7th warmest on record. State and local health officials reminded residents about the importance of taking precautions against the heat.
