MOISTURE WILL INCREASE OVER THE WEEKEND AS THE RIDGE SLIDES EAST OF THE AREA BRINGING A SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. && .DISCUSSION...AREA OF CONVECTION EXPANDING SOME OVER PAST HOUR ACROSS NORTHWEST UTAH INTO SOUTHEAST IDAHO. THIS AREA ASSOCIATED WITH 60 KT JET THAT IS ROUNDING BASE OF TROUGH MOVING SOUTHEAST ACROSS IDAHO. THIS TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTHEAST WITH THE NAM SHOWING A DECENT 300 MB VORT MAX DROPPING RIGHT ACROSS THE WASATCH FRONT THIS EVENING WHILE THE GFS IS FARTHER EAST TOWARD VERNAL WITH THIS VORT MAX. CURRENT SATELLITE APPEARS TO SUPPORT THE FARTHER WEST POSITION OF THE NAM. RADAR LIGHTING UP WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. CONSIDERING THE TIME OF DAY THE UPPER LEVEL DYNAMICS ARE THE MOST LIKELY SUPPORT. WITH THIS IN MIND HAVE UPDATED NORTHERN ZONES AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING TO INCLUDE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TODAY AND INTO THIS EVENING. MAY HAVE TO EXPAND THIS FARTHER SOUTH IN AFTERNOON PACKAGE DEPENDING ON HOW ACTIVITY SHAKES OUT THIS AFTERNOON. && .FIRE WEATHER...RH RECOVERIES A BIT LESS THAN LAST NIGHT. THIS TREND WILL CONTINUE INTO THE LATTER PART OF THE WEEK AS A LARGE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE STRENGTHENS ACROSS THE STATE.
