BIGGEST UPDATE TO THE PACKAGE WAS TO ISSUE A HIGH WIND WARNING
FOR THE CENTRAL TO EASTERN PANHANDLES WITH A WIND ADVISORY FOR THE
WESTERN COLUMN OF COUNTIES. INCREASED CONFIDENCE WITH THE 12Z MODEL
RUNS AND CONSENSUS AMONG SURROUNDING OFFICES LED TO THE DECISION.
BOTH THE GFS AND NAM12 SHOWED WELL OVER 90M 700MB GRADIENT OVER 230
MILES...WITH SURFACE GRADIENTS OF GREATER THAN 5MB OVER 100 MILES.
THE ONE LIMITING FACTOR IS THE INCREASING LI VALUES OVERNIGHT...WHICH
IS EXPECTED...BUT THINKING THE DRY ADIABATIC FCST SOUNDING FOR THIS
AFTERNOON/EVENING AND THE FRONTAL PASSAGE WILL EASILY COMPENSATE FOR
THE DECREASING VERTICAL MIXING POTENTIAL. THUS...THE UPPER LEVELS
DOWN TO THE SURFACE SUPPORTS SUSTAINED WIND VALUES OF 40 TO 50 MPH
WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH FROM THE CENTRAL TO EASTERN PANHANDLES...BUT DUE
TO THE POSITION OF THE SFC LOW IT APPEARS THE WESTERN PANHANDLES WILL
FAR ENOUGH REMOVED FROM THE STRONGEST GRADIENTS TO SEE WIND SPEEDS
CLOSER TO 30 TO 35 MPH. MODELS KEEP THE STRONG WINDS BLOWING THROUGH
WEDNESDAY MORNING...SO WENT A BIT PESSIMISTIC WITH THE TIMING LEAVING
THE PRODUCT VALID THROUGH 18Z TOMORROW. IN ADDITION...CURRENT RADAR
IMAGERY SHOWS VERY WEEK RETURNS POSSIBLY INDICATING LIGHT RAIN OR
EVEN VIRGA WHICH WOULD ONLY ENHANCE DOWNWARD MOTION. WITH THE STRONG
WINDS...ALSO INTRODUCED BLOWING DUST INTO THE WEATHER GRIDS...BUT NOT
ANTICIPATING ANY TYPE OF NON ROUTINE PRODUCT FOR DUST AT THIS POINT.
THIS WAS THE ISSUE OF THE DAY FOR THE FORECAST PACKAGE...SO TOOK A
GOOD LOOK AT THE REST OF THE PACKAGE AND DECIDED THE GFS HAD A GOOD
HANDLE ON THE SITUATION. THE EURO/NAM/AND GFS ALL SHOWED SIMILAR
SOLUTIONS FOR THE PANHANDLES THROUGH THE SHORT TERM...WITH THE GFS
AND EURO WITH VERY SLIGHT DEVIATIONS IN THE EXTENDED. WENT PRIMARILY
WITH THE GUIDANCE FROM DAY 3 ON AND CONTINUED THE DRY FORECAST AS
STORM TRACK SEEMS TO KEEP THE PRECIP NORTH OF THE CWA THROUGH DAY 7.
