AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HONOLULU HI 1000 AM HST TUE AUG 1 2006 .SYNOPSIS...CONTINUED HUMID AND OCCASIONALLY WET FOR MAINLY KAUAI AND OAHU TODAY. RETURN OF MUCH BETTER TRADE WIND WEATHER TOMORROW STATEWIDE. && .DISCUSSION...THE UPPER LEVEL LOW RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR HUMID INCLEMENT WEATHER SINCE YESTERDAY LOOKS LIKE IT IS MAKING A MOVE AWAY FROM THE ISLANDS. THE UPPER LOW...DEEP ENOUGH TO PRODUCE AN INVERTED TROUGH DOWN AT THE SURFACE AND SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS LOCALLY...ALSO APPEARS TO BE WEAKENING. WEVE ALSO GOT THE FIRST HARBINGERS OF IMPROVING WEATHER...NICELY RISING SURFACE PRESSURES. THE CURRENT WET WEATHER IS FOCUSED ON KAUAI AND OAHU WHO ARE CLOSER TO THE UPPER LOW...OTHER ISLANDS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE ONLY SPOTTY AFTERNOON CONVECTION TODAY AS INCREASINGLY DRIER AND STABLE RIDGING ALOFT NUDGES IN FROM THE EAST. THE UPPER RIDGE SHOULD REPLACE THE UPPER LOWS INFLUENCE AND ALLOW NORMAL TRADE WINDS TO RETURN TOMORROW AND EVEN DRIER AND BREEZIER ONES THURSDAY. A FEW TRADE WIND SHOWERS...MUCH LIGHTER THAN THE CURRENT ONES...SHOULD RETURN DURING THE WEEKEND. && .HFO WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... HIGH SURF ADVISORY...SOUTH FACING SHORES TIL 6 PM WEDNESDAY. && MATSUDA
