THE FORMATION OF A DEEP TROUGH NORTHEAST OF THE MAIN HAWAIIAN
ISLANDS WILL RESULT IN A LIGHT NORTHEAST WIND FLOW OVER THE ISLANDS
FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WITH FEWER SHOWERS ON TAP BETWEEN MONDAY
AND WEDNESDAY. THE MORE TYPICAL TRADES WINDS AND SHOWERS WILL RETURN
AFTER WEDNESDAY.

.DISCUSSION...
DAY TIME HEATING COUPLED WITH AMPLE MOISTURE AND LIGHTER THAN
EXPECTED WINDS RESULTED IN SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON
ESPECIALLY ON THE ISLAND OF OAHU. THESE SHOWERS COULD ALSO BE AIDED
BY A SHORTWAVE PASSING NORTH OF THE ISLANDS. MOST OF THESE SHOWERS
WILL DISSIPATE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS BUT ESPECIALLY AFTER
SUNSET. WITH THE WINDS REMAINING LIGHT INTO SUNDAY...DO EXPECT SOME
AFTERNOON SHOWERS AGAIN TOMORROW BUT MORE ISOLATED THAN TODAY/S
ACTIVITY. THE GFS IS INDICATING A MORE STABLE AIR MASS AFTER
SUNDAY...SUGGESTING EVEN FEWER SHOWERS.

THE PREVAILING WIND IS CURRENTLY EAST TO NORTHEAST STATEWIDE. IT
SHOULD BE BECOMING NORTHEAST OVER THE NEXT 18 HOURS AS LOW PRESSURE
AND TROUGH FORMS NORTHEAST OF HERE.

SATELLITE SHOWS A FIELD OF SHOWER-BEARING CLOUDS UPWIND OF THE BIG
ISLAND/S EAST COAST. THESE SHOWERS WILL LIKELY BE CARRIED ONSHORE
AFTER SUNDOWN. AS FOR THE SMALLER ISLANDS...CONVECTIVE CLOUDS AND
SHOWERS RULED OVER LAND...WHILE THE ADJACENT WATERS WERE GENERALLY
FAIR. SATELLITE ALSO SHOWS A SHEAR LINE 235 MILE NORTH OF
KAUAI...MOVING SOUTH TOWARDS KAUAI. THE GFS HAS THIS FEATURE
BREAKING UP BEFORE REACHING KAUAI TOMORROW AFTERNOON.
