An early July spell of high maximum temperatures occurred from the 8th through the 10th of the month when the warmest parts of the Central and Southern San Joaquin Valley had temperatures spike above 105 degrees F. in the warmest areas. Fresno reached 107F on the 9th and 10th, Bakersfield climbed to 105F on those two dates, and Merced reached 106F on the 9th.
