Snow squalls associated with a cold frontal passage caused numerous accidents during the evening commute across the Poconos. In the heavier squalls, one to two inches of snow quickly accumulated and visibilities were quite poor.

Snow squalls associated with a cold frontal passage caused numerous accidents during the evening commute across the Poconos. In the heavier squalls, one to two inches of snow quickly accumulated and visibilities were quite poor. The commute was described as shut down across the Pocono Plateau. The worst multi-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 380 near the Monroe and Wayne County border. One woman was seriously injured. Vehicles were sliding off the roads on Interstate 380 and Pennsylvania State Routes 940 and 611. Portions of several roads were shut down in Jackson and Stroud Townships (Monroe County). In general, vehicles had a very difficult time trying to negotiate hills.
