.SYNOPSIS...
TROPICAL DEPRESSION KENNETH AND A LOW ALOFT WILL PRODUCE VERY WET
WEATHER OVER THE ISLANDS THROUGH SATURDAY. THE WEATHER WILL TURN
DRIER STARTING SATURDAY NIGHT AS LOW ALOFT AND THE REMNANTS OF
KENNETH MOVE AWAY TO THE WEST.

UPDATE...
RADAR AND SATELLITE DATA SHOW IMPRESSIVE THUNDERSTORMS EAST OF THE
BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII MOVING WESTWARD. WE HAVE JUST ISSUED A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII.

.DISCUSSION...
MOISTURE FROM TROPICAL DEPRESSION KENNETH HAS SPREAD WEST OVER THE
ISLANDS AND A LOW ALOFT IS CREATING UNSTABLE CONDITIONS. THE THREAT
OF HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY...THEN GRADUALLY
SUBSIDE AS THE REMNANTS OF KENNETH AND THE LOW ALOFT BOTH MOVE OFF
TO THE WEST. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR THE ISLANDS THROUGH
SATURDAY.

AT 200 AM HST TROPICAL DEPRESSION KENNETH WAS ABOUT 125 MILES EAST
OF HILO...MOVING WEST AT 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR. THE CIRCULATION
AROUND KENNETH IS OPENING UP INTO A WAVE BUT THE TIGHT PRESSURE
GRADIENT NORTH OF KENNETH IS PRODUCING WINDS STRONG ENOUGH TO
REQUIRE A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY THROUGH THIS EVENING. WINDS WILL
DECREASE TONIGHT AS KENNETH WEAKENS AND THE REMNANT TROUGH MOVES
OVER THE ISLANDS.

ON SUNDAY...TRADE-WIND WEATHER WILL RETURN TO THE ISLANDS AND
CONTINUE THROUGH THE REST OF NEXT WEEK.

ISLANDS WILL BLOCK THE SURF FROM HITTING KAHOOLAWE...LANAI AND
