The strong winds combined with heavy rain and saturated ground resulted in many downed trees and power lines across west Georgia, mainly west of a line from Americus, to Atlanta, to Chatsworth. Many power outages were reported overnight and into the early morning hours. Specific details for counties most adversely impacted are listed below:Bartow: A number of trees and power lines down throughout the county. One building heavily damaged. Estimated Damage: $25,000Carroll: Several trees and power lines were blown down throughout the county. Some minor property damage was reported. Estimated Damage: $10,000Cherokee: Several trees blown down across the county. No significant structural damage reported. Estimated Damage: $5,000Clayton: A number of trees and power lines were blown down throughout the county. At least 15,000 residents were left without power for much of the night. Estimated Damage: $10,000Coweta: Several trees and power lines down across the eastern portion of the county. At least 2000 residents were left without power for several hours during the night. Estimated Damage: $5,000DeKalb: A large, 40-inch diameter poplar tree was blown down onto a home, killing a man sleeping in his bed. Several trees and power lines were blown down throughout the county during the night. Estimated Damage: $50,000Douglas: A tree fell on a car on Interstate-20 westbound causing damage to the vehicle. However, no injuries were reported from the incident. In another incident, a tree was blown onto a home on Campbellton Street, causing damage to the structure. Estimated Damage: $20,000Fayette: Numerous trees and power lines down throughout the county. Many residents were left without power for much of the night. Estimated Damage: $10,000Floyd: Several trees and power lines down throughout the county. At least 2,500 residents in the county were left without power when tree limbs were knocked down onto a power line. Estimated Damage: $7,500Fulton: Several trees and power lines down throughout the county, with the worst damage in the western and southern sections of the county. A number of trees were also down in the Roswell area. The Roswell Cat Clinic had to be closed when a large tree damaged the facility. A home in North Atlanta was also damaged when a large oak tree fell on a deck. Many residents of the county were without power during the night from trees down on power lines. Estimated Damage: $25,000Gilmer: Numerous trees and power lines down throughout the county. From 12,000 to 15,000 residents in the county lost power. Estimated Damage: $5,000Gwinnett: A few trees were blown down. No major damage was reported. Estimated Damage: $750Hall: A couple of trees were blown down. Estimated Damage: $500Haralson: A number of trees and power lines were blown down throughout the county. U.S. Highway 100 had to be closed for a brief period because of downed trees. Estimated Damage: $5,000Harris: Around 40 trees and a number of power lines down throughout the county. One home sustained significant damage when a large oak tree fell on the structure. Several other trees were uprooted or twisted off on the same property. The damage across the county was associated with a strong spiral feeder band of Dennis rotating from southeast to northwest across the county. Estimated Damage: $30,000Lamar: A number of trees and several power lines down throughout the county. Estimated Damage: $5,000Marion: Strong winds blew a number of large tree limbs down onto a home in Ellaville. Estimated Damage: $500Morgan: Numerous trees down throughout the county. Several roads were blocked for some period. Estimated Damage: $5,000Newton: A number of trees and power lines were blown down throughout the county. More than 3000 residents of Snapping Shoals lost power. In Covington, two large trees fell on power lines leaving 800 residents without power and another large tree left phone and power service in a nearby area out of service for five hours. Some 2000 residents in the county were left without power. One large tree fell on Juniper Street, barely missing a house. Overall, damage in the county was considered to be minor.
