WINDS WILL BE LIGHT AND VARIABLE INTO THIS WEEKEND...THANKS TO A WEAK HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE TO THE NORTH. ISLAND SKIES WILL BE CLOUDY FOR THE MOST PART...BECAUSE OF HIGH CLOUDS MOVING UP FROM THE SOUTHWEST. SLOW MOVING SHOWERS MAY CAUSE MINOR FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS. && .DISCUSSION... THAT PORTION OF THE SURFACE RIDGE NORTH OF HAWAII IS WEAK BECAUSE OF AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OVERHEAD. THE TROUGH HAS ERODED THE RIDGE RESULTING IN A FLAT PRESSURE GRADIENT AND LIGHT WINDS. THE TROUGH IS FORECAST TO REMAIN OVER THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEKEND...SO WE CAN EXPECT LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS FOR A WHILE.
