SUNDAY. TRADE WIND WEATHER WILL RETURN TO THE WESTERN ISLANDS
TOMORROW...EVENTUALLY EMBRACING THE REST OF THE MAIN ISLAND CHAIN BY
SUNDAY.
DISCUSSION...AFTER A SOGGY THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY...THE CLOUDS
AND SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH A SHEARLINE AND AN UPPER TROUGH ARE
BEGINNING TO CLEAR AWAY FROM THE WESTERN ISLANDS. KAUAI IS ALREADY
FREE OF THE LAYERED CLOUD AREA...AND OAHU IS SET TO FOLLOW SUIT
WITHIN THE NEXT FEW HOURS. THE ISLANDS OF MAUI COUNTY ARE EXPECTED
TO IMPROVE THROUGH THE DAY SATURDAY...WHILE CLOUDS AND SHOWERS MAY
LINGER OVER THE BIG ISLAND INTO EARLY SUNDAY.
THE REPLACEMENT OF WEAK EAST TO SOUTHEAST WINDS WITH GUSTY NORTH
WINDS OVER THE BIG ISLAND INDICATE THAT THE SHEARLINE HAS PASSED TO
THE SOUTHEAST OF THAT ISLAND THIS EVENING. STRONG WINDS IMMEDIATELY
WEST OF THE SHEARLINE HAVE PROMPTED THE ISSUANCE OF WIND ADVISORIES
FOR MAUI AND THE BIG ISLAND. DEEP MOISTURE LINGERS OVER THE BIG
ISLAND. A COMBINATION OF HIGH WINDS...DEEP MOISTURE AND SUBFREEZING
TEMPERATURES NEAR THE BIG ISLAND SUMMITS HAS PROMPTED THE ISSUANCE
OF A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE SUMMITS AND UPPER SLOPES OF THE

RADAR PAINTS A LESS CONVECTIVE PICTURE TONIGHT OVER MAUI AND THE
