What happened

The episode as NWS MFR wrote it up.

A Heavy Snow Warning was issued for California zone CAZ082 above 3500 feet at 2310 PDT on 04/24 and expired at 1445 PDT on 04/25. Two of the three reports above verified the warning. The third report was in zone CAZ081, but it was very near the northern boundary of CAZ082 and is more representative of conditions in CAZ082 than conditions over the remainder of CAZ081. Mount Shasta City at elevation 3539 feet recorded a 24 hour snow total of 7.5 inches from 2000 PST 04/24 to 2000 PST 04/25, and Sand Flat at elevation 6750 feet recorded 12 inches of snow between 01Z and 14Z on 04/25, so it is likely that higher elevations verified.
