UTAH AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT 840 PM MDT FRI APR 26 2002 .SYNOPSIS...A LOW WILL SWEEP EAST ACROSS THE SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN TONIGHT. ANOTHER COLD LOW WILL MOVE SOUTH ALONG THE COAST...THEN STALL OFF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SUNDAY. .DISCUSSION...STRONGEST CONVECTION HAS SHIFTED TOWARD THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE FORECAST AREA AS THE OUTFLOWS AND SHOWERS HAVE COOLED THE WESTERN SECTIONS. BUT A FAIRLY STRONG LINE OF STORMS HAS JUST MOVED ACROSS THE CENTRAL WASATCH FRONT WITH SEVERAL REPORTS OF SMALL HAIL AND ONE REPORT OF DIME SIZED HAIL. THOSE CELLS HAVE WEAKENED RAPIDLY IN THE LAST HALF HOUR BUT THERE WILL STILL BE WIDESPREAD RAIN OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF THE FRONT AS THE CELLS CONTINUE TO DECAY. CANT SEE ANYTHING TO ARGUE ABOUT IN THE AFTERNOON PACKAGE OTHER THAN ONE AREA THAT NEEDED WINDS CHANGED EARLIER THIS EVENING. SOUTHWEST UT HAS QUIETED DOWN A LITTLE AT THE MOMENT BUT ANOTHER IMPULSE IS MOVING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN SIERRA AND INTO SOUTHERN NV AND SHOULD REACH SOUTHWEST UT LATE TONIGHT.
