WEST CENTRAL TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANGELO TX 315 PM CDT SAT JUN 15 2002 CURRENT...REMNANTS OF MCS MOVING ACROSS OUR SOUTHEASTERN ZONES. AT THE SURFACE...ATMOSPHERE REMAINS VERY MOIST WITH DEWPOINTS IN THE 60S ACROSS WEST CENTRAL TEXAS. DAYS 1-3...MODELS SUGGEST MORE RAINFALL TONIGHT WITH ANOTHER MCS FORMING IN THE NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. APPEARS MAIN ACTION WILL BE AFTER MIDNIGHT WITH THE BIG COUNTRY...ESPECIALLY THE NORTHERN BIG COUNTRY...HAVING THE BEST RAIN CHANCES. MODELS SUGGEST GOOD SURFACE CONVERGENCE ALONG THE COLD FRONT AS IT MOVES INTO OUR NORTHWESTERN ZONES AROUND MIDNIGHT. THIS LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE...ENHANCED BY A LOW-LEVEL JET...MAY DRAW THE DEVELOPING MCS FURTHER SOUTH THAN THE MODELS SUGGEST. FOR NOW...WILL NOT PUSH THE POPS TOO HIGH ABOVE GUIDANCE. HOWEVER...BELIEVE THE 20 TO 40 PERCENT RANGE THE MODELS ARE IS TOO LOW...ESPECIALLY FOR THE BIG COUNTRY. SOME ACTIVITY MAY LINGER INTO THE SECOND PERIOD. A LARGE THUNDERSTORM COMPLEX CURRENTLY OVER THE TEXAS PANHANDLE INTO WESTERN OKLAHOMA WILL MOVE QUICKLY TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST OVERNIGHT.
