AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MORRISTOWN TN 315 PM EDT TUE JUN 25 2002 MOIST FLOW PROJECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE BALANCE OF THE WORK WEEK. MID LEVELS DRY OUT TEMPORARILY ON WEDNESDAY PER MODEL TIME HEIGHTS BUT DEEP MOISTURE RETURNS ON THURSDAY. UPPER LOW OVER ARKANSAS/LOUISIANA AREA IS PROJECTED TO REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY BEFORE BEING INCORPORATED INTO A SHORT WAVE TROUGH BY EARLY THURSDAY. THE SHORT WAVE AND ASSOCIATED SURFACE FRONT WILL APPROACH THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION BY LATE THURSDAY BUT WILL HAVE A TOUGH TIME PUSHING THROUGH THE FORECAST AREA. THUS DRIER AIR BEHIND THE FRONT IS UNLIKELY TO MAKE MUCH PROGRESS INTO EASTERN TENNESSEE. THE MOIST AIR MASS WILL BE CONDUCIVE FOR DIURNAL CONVECTION AS HAS OCCURRED THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS. WITH SOMEWHAT DRIER MID LEVELS EXPECT SLIGHTLY LESS COVERAGE ON WEDNESDAY. THUS WILL CONTINUE WITH CHANCE POPS IN THE SECOND PERIOD. TENDED TO FAVOR GENERALLY WARMER NGM MOS TEMPS FOR THE MOST PART.
