AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
225 PM EST WED MAR 27 2002

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD OVER THE EASTERN US TONIGHT BUT THE CENTER
OF THE HIGH WILL REMAIN WELL NORTH OF SC. THE ETA MOEDL HAS SURFACE
WINDS IN THE 5 TO 10 KT RANGE WHICH WILL DECREASE THE CHANCE FOR
SIGNIFICANT RADIATIVE COOLING. STILL THERE MAY BE SOME LOCAL POCKETS
OF FROST...ESPECIALLY OVER THE NORTHERN COUNTIES. SINCE THIS IS
EARLY SPRING WITH TENDER VEGETATION WILL RETAIN THE FROST ADVISORY
ALREADY IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHERN COUNTIES. WILL GO FOR UPPER 30S
TO LOWER 40S ELSEWHERE. MOSTLY SUNNY CONDITIONS EXPECTED ON THURSDAY
WITH A GRADUAL RETURN OF CLOUDS/MOISTURE BY LATE FRIDAY AS HIGH
CONTINUES EASTWARD INTO ATLANTIC.

12Z AVIATION RUN HAS FRONT APPROACHING OUR COUNTY WARNING AREA ON
SAT WITH ASSOCIATED SURFACE LOW TRAILING THRU THE GULF STATES. MOST
OF THE PRECIP SHOULD REMAIN NORTH OF OUR AREA SATURDAY BUT CLOUDS
WILL INCREASE.

THE GULF LOW BEGINS TO MOVE INTO TENNESSEE VALLEY ON SUNDAY WITH
INCREASING WARM ADVECTION AND SOUTHERLY FLOW OVER SC TO FAVOR CHANCE
OF SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS. THE THREAT OF PRECIP CONTINUES THRU MOST
OF THE EXTENDED PERIOD AS UPPER FLOW IS SOUTHWEST WITH MINOR
SHORTWAVES MOVING THRU THE AREA.
