AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE 820 PM EDT MON MAY 27 2002 DON/T ENVISION MUCH OF AN UPD THIS EVENING...BUT HAD TO TALK ABOUT THE COOL THINGS OUT THERE WEATHER-WISE. NEAT THINGS TO SEE ON THE RADAR AND SATELLITE PLATFORMS THIS EVENING...WITH MOIST AND MORE UNSTABLE AIR FORCING IT/S WAY UP THE ALLEGHENY PLATEAU. ODD TO SEE THE MOIST AIR UNDERCUTTING THE DRIER AIR. KJST DWPT JUMPED 6 DEGREES IN 20 MINUTES WHEN THE BOUNDARY WENT THRU. IN WEAK-SHEAR THE CELLS HAVE BEEN SPLITTING AND THE DOMINANT CELLS HAVE BEEN THE ANTI-CYCLONIC LEFT-MOVERS THESE PAST 2-3 HOURS (INCLUDING THE CELL APPCHG STATE COLLEGE). UNUSUAL TO SEE THAT AS WELL. BEST CELL ON SCOPE ATTM IS HEADED FOR THE LCL VCNTY. NOT MUCH GLACIATION ON THE TOP OF THE STORM...AS IT APPEARS JUST SUPER-COOLED AND NO THUNDER YET...BUT IT/S GOT A FEW MILES TO GO. STUFF HEADED FOR LWR SUSQ APPEARS TO BE WEAKENING. WL EVLUATE ALL THIS FOR THE UPD IN ANOTHER HOUR OR SO TO SEE IF SUNSET KILLS SOME OF THIS STUFF. .CTP...NONE. DANGELO
