...ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
THIS EVENING...

THE ATMOSPHERE IN A LARGE PART OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND
NORTHEAST GEORGIA REMAINS VERY UNSTABLE. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP DURING MID TO LATE AFTERNOON. A COUPLE OF
BOUNDARIES...SEPARATING VERY MOIST AIR AT THE SURFACE...FROM DRIER
AIR TO THE NORTHEAST...MAY HELP FOCUS THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT
TODAY. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED WEST OF THE INTERSTATE 77
CORRIDOR. THE BEST CHANCE OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE FROM THE NORTH
CAROLINA MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHERN FOOTHILLS...SOUTH THROUGH THE
WESTERN PART OF UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA.

ALTHOUGH COVERAGE OF THUNDERSTORMS IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE
GREAT...SOME OF THE STORMS COULD BECOME SEVERE. SMALL AREAS WOULD BE
AFFECTED BY THE SEVERE WEATHER. LARGE HAIL FROM DIME TO QUARTER
SIZE...AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS FROM 60 TO 80 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO BE
THE SEVERE WEATHER THREATS. EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN COULD FALL...AS
MOST STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE VERY SLOWLY. LOCALIZED FLOODING
COULD RESULT...ESPECIALLY IF A STORM DEVELOPS OVER AN URBAN AREA.

SPOTTER GROUPS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO ACTIVATE QUICKLY LATE THIS
AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. DISPATCHERS SHOULD ENSURE COUNTY
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OFFICIALS ARE AWARE OF THIS INFORMATION.
