AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN
307 PM CDT MON MAY 27 2002

A MARGINALLY UNSTABLE AIR MASS IS FORECAST TO PERSIST OVER OUR
COUNTY WARNING AREA THROUGH 60 HOURS. THE PRECIPITABLE MOISTURE IS
FORECAST TO BE AROUND ONE INCH AND THE K INDEX REMAINS IN THE MIDDLE
20S TO NEAR 30. LOW AND MIDDLE LEVEL WARM ADVECTION IS FORECAST TO
BE RELATIVELY WEAK BUT PERSISTENT OVER SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND WEST
CENTRAL WISCONSIN FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON. WARM
ADVECTION IS EXPECTED TO RETURN AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY. THE LIFT IMPLIED
BY THESE PERIODS OF WARM ADVECTION PRECEDE MID LEVEL SHORT WAVES AND
SHOULD ACCOMPANY THE MOST FAVORABLE PERIODS FOR CONVECTION. THE
TIMING OF THE SHORT WAVES PHASE WELL WITH DIURNAL HEATING
CONSIDERATIONS. ONCE CONVECTION BEGINS...THE INITIATION OF
BOUNDARIES ARE LIKELY TO BECOME THE MAIN INGREDIENT FOR FURTHER
DEVELOPMENT. WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE MODELS INDICATE A STRONGER THETA
E RIDGE AND LOW LEVEL CONVECTIVE PARAMETERS FOR A PROBABILITY OF
PRECIPITATION GREATER THEN A CHANCE.
