AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DULUTH MN
330 PM CDT MON JUL 8 2002

MAIN CHALLENGE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS IS RESOLVING THE NEXT SYSTEM TO
AFFECT THE AREA TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY. MODELS AGREE PRETTY WELL ON
AMOUNT AND STRENGTH OF THE NEXT SYSTEM COMING IN ACROSS THE NORTHERN
PLAINS...BRINGING ANOTHER HEAVY RAIN BAND TO THE NORTHLAND...THIS
TIME OVER THE SW PORTION OF THE CWA. THE LATEST MESOETA FAVORS THE
12Z AVN A LITTLE MORE YET...BRINGING THE BAND A BIT TO THE NE.
WITH ALL THE DRY AIR MOVING ACROSS THE LAKE SUPERIOR REGION...
AND WITH NE WINDS...THE PCPN SHOULD INDEED HAVE A HARD TIME
ARRIVING IN THE WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR REGION.

WILL BRING SMALL CHANCE POPS IN BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON IN THE SW
AREAS...BUT LOOKING AT THE 18Z MESOETA...WE MAY HAVE TO BUMP POPS UP
AFTER SUBSEQUENT RUNS. THE MAIN AREA FOR RAINFALL ON TUESDAY NIGHT
WILL BE IN THE SW HALF...BEFORE THE SYSTEM DROPS TO THE SOUTH ON
WEDNESDAY...TAKING THE CLOUDS AND THE PCPN WITH IT.

TEMPS ARE A BIT TRICKY AS WELL. WITH LIMITED SUNSHINE IN THE SW
AREAS...TEMPS ARE LIKELY NOT TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. WILL
FOLLOW MOS TEMPS THERE...BUT GIVEN SOME SUNSHINE FOR TIME...WILL
BRING TEMPS UP A NOTCH OR TWO. EXTREMELY DRY AIR WILL PUSH ACROSS
THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY...BRINGING AN END TO THE PCPN...AND DRY
EASTERLY FLOW.

.DLH...NONE.
