Cold arctic air pouring across Lake Superior on northwest winds set up bands of heavy lake effect snow over western Upper Michigan. The bands were most persistent over Gogebic and Ontonagon counties. Ironwood reported 11 inches of snowfall, Bessemer received 12 inches, and 9 inches accumulated in Rockland.
