A winter storm moved northeast across southern Indiana on February 25th and into Ohio on February 26th. Snow began falling across northwest Indiana during the evening hours of the 25th and by the early morning hours, snow had accumulated 4 to 6 inches across most areas.

A winter storm moved northeast across southern Indiana on February 25th and into Ohio on February 26th. Snow began falling across northwest Indiana during the evening hours of the 25th and by the early morning hours, snow had accumulated 4 to 6 inches across most areas. Some snowfall reports include 6.6 inches in Remington in Jasper county, 6.5 inches in Kentland in Newton county and 6.0 inches in Lowell in Lake county.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO IL 850 PM CST MON FEB 25 2002 RADAR LOOPS SHOWING SOME NORTHWARD BULGE IN POST FRONTAL PRECIP BAND OVE WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS...IN RESPONSE TO STRONG TROUGH MOVING THROUGH THE PLAINS. YET PROFILER WINDS AT 850 AND 700 MB SHOWING LITTLE RESPONSE (BACKING) AND ITS ALL COLD ADVECTION BELOW 700 MB. SO THERE IS SOME CONCERN ABOUT HOW MUCH SNOW CAN BE SQUEEZED OUT BY STRICTLY DYNAMIC PROCESSES. HOWEVER, NEW MESOETA STILL INDICATING CLOSED MID LEVEL LOW TO DEVELOP OVERNIGHT IN/NEAR IOWA AND MOVE ACROSS THE REGION. THESE DEVELOPMENTS DO AT TIMES PRODUCE SURPRISES THE MODELS DONT REFLECT.
