AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...CORRECTED TO ADD NUMBERS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI 200 PM EDT TUE AUG 6 2002 FORECAST PROBLEM OF THE DAY IS T.D. NUMBER 3. CONVECTION SEEMS TO BE DRIFTING SOUTH AT PRESENT AND HAS LEFT THE LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION OFF TO THE NORTHEAST. MODELS SEEM TO BE DOING SOME INTERESTING THINGS WITH PARTS OF THE CIRCULATION. THE AVN MODEL GOES AHEAD AND TAKES THE LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION OUT TO THE NORTHEAST AHEAD OF THE EAST COAST TROUGH. THE MESOETA DROPS THE LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION TO THE SOUTH THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY BEFORE MOVING IT OFF TO THE EAST AND FINALLY NORTHEAST. BOTH MODELS SHOW A KIND OF TROUGH FROM THE T.D. INTO GEORGIA THAT PUSHES DOWN THE PENINSULA ON WEDNESDAY. BUT HERE THE AVN AND MESOETA DIVERGE. THE MESOETA SHOWS DRIER AIR THAT FILTERS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO BROWARD AND COLLIER COUNTIES BUT NOT TIL THURSDAY. THE AVN SHOWS SLIGHTLY DRIER AIR WEDNESDAY THAT DOESNT LAST AND RETURNS ABUNDANT MOISTURE OVER THE SOUTH PENINSULA ON THURSDAY. AT PRESENT...WILL GO WITH THE AVN FORECAST WHICH ALLOWS SOME WIGGLE ROOM FOR THE UNCERTAINTY WITH T.D. NUMBER 3 AND SEEMS A BIT MORE CONSISTENT. WILL KEEP SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY...MAINLY IN THE AFTERNOONS AND EVENINGS FOR THE ATLANTIC COAST...FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. SHOWERS WILL FAVOR THE GULF COAST AND INTERIOR MORNINGS AND MID DAY. MARINE...NO REAL PROBLEMS THIS FORECAST PACKAGE IF T.D. NUMBER 3 CONTINUES UNORGANIZED AND BEHAVES AS THE MODELS SHOW. THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF SOME SWELL COMING BETWEEN GRAND BAHAMA AND SOUTHEAST FLORIDA AFFECTING PRIMARILY PALM BEACH COUNTY. BECAUSE THE T.D. HAS SAT THERE FOR THIS EXTENDED TIME...WILL GO AHEAD AND INCREASE SEAS SLIGHTLY PRIMARILY NORTH OF DEERFIELD BEACH. EXTENDED...A RETURN TO A MORE NORMAL EAST TO SOUTHEAST FLOW LOOKS GOOD FOR THE WEEKEND. THIS MEANS MORE MORNING AND MIDDAY CONVECTION FOR THE ATLANTIC COAST AND AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS FOR COLLIER AND THE INTERIOR.
