MORNING COASTAL LOW CLOUDS AND FOG...DECREASING SUNDAY AND MONDAY AS
HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS ALOFT. HOT DAYS INLAND SUNDAY AND MONDAY. SOUTHEAST
FLOW ALOFT WILL BRING TROPICAL MOISTURE FOR PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES EARLY
NEXT WEEK. MORE CLOUDS AND COOLING TOWARD THE SECOND HALF OF NEXT WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...LOW CLOUDS/LOCAL FOG WERE INTO COASTAL AREAS...MUCH OF
INLAND SAN VALLEYS AND W PART OF INLAND EMPIRE THIS AM. OTHERWISE...
CLEAR. 12Z NKX SOUNDING HAD INVERSION BASED NEAR 1900 FT...ABOUT 400 FT
HIGHER THAN 24 HOURS PREVIOUS. MODERATELY STRONG ONSHORE GRADIENTS WITH
ABOUT 7 MB SAN-IPL.

WEAK UPPER TROUGH LEAVES A WEAK CLOSED LOW SW OF SAN BY LATE TONIGHT. AN
UPPER HI OVER THE E PAC AND ANOTHER OVER THE SW MERGE INTO AN ELONGATED
UPPER HI BY SUN AND THEN SPLIT APART ON MON. INCREASING SUBSIDENCE AND
DECREASING ONSHORE GRADIENTS WILL RESULT IN A DECREASING MARINE LAYER.
THE FLOW ALOFT TURNS NE BUT NEVER GET OFFSHORE AT THE SURFACE. WHILE
SYNOPTIC SCALE ONSHORE GRADIENTS WILL BE WEAKER...ONSHORE FLOW TO
INTERIOR THERMAL LOW EACH AFTERNOON WILL MODERATE MAX TEMPS NEAR THE
COAST. LOW CLOUDS/DENSE FOG COULD GET TRAPPED UNDER A SHALLOW/STRONG
INVERSION SUN/MON. IT WILL BE HOT INLAND/MOUNTAINS/DESERTS SUN/MON BUT
PROBABLY NOT HOT ENOUGH TO BREAK MANY RECORDS. THE FLOW ALOFT STARTS TO
TURN SE MON AND BRINGS UP SOME HI CLOUDS.

LONGER RANGE PROGS INDICATE SE FLOW ALOFT WILL BRING UP MORE TROPICAL
MOISTURE TUE/WED BUT MAINLY AT HI LEVELS. DRIER SW FLOW ALOFT THU/FRI AS
TROUGH DIGS OVER W COAST. COOLER WITH INCREASING MARINE LAYER TOWARD THE
END OF NEXT WEEK.
