High winds developed across portions of St. Lawrence Island as a 987mb low deepened and moved northward across the Bering Sea.

High winds developed across portions of St. Lawrence Island as a 987mb low deepened and moved northward across the Bering Sea. As the low approached the island, the pressure gradient associated with it strengthened resulting in strong easterly winds. Wind gusts to 61 knots (70mph) were reported at the AWOS site at Gambell.
