High Wind in Alaska, January 15, 2002
An intense low in the north Pacific moved rapidly toward the Aleutian Chain Tuesday afternoon. At noon Tuesday, the Dutch Harbor airport recorded southeast winds to 46 mph.

An intense low in the north Pacific moved rapidly toward the Aleutian Chain Tuesday afternoon. The front associated with the low was preceded by strong east southeast winds.At noon Tuesday, the Dutch Harbor airport recorded southeast winds to 46 mph. By 2 pm, southeast wind gusts reached 75 mph. By 5 pm, southeast wind gusts had diminished to 43 mph. Frontal passage occurred at 6:45 pm and gusty southeast winds diminished.
