BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES AND ABOVE AVERAGE PRECIPITATION CHANCES
ARE EXPECTED THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS MOIST SOUTHWEST FLOW PREVAILS
ALOFT...AND MOIST EAST FLOW GETS ESTABLISHED AT THE SURFACE. FOR
TONIGHT MOST OF THE CWFA WILL BE IN THE RIGHT-REAR QUADRANT OF AN
UPPER-LEVEL JET...WITH SIGNIFICANT THETA-E ADVECTION IN THE LOWER
LEVELS. THIS WILL LEAD TO A LARGE AREA OF PRECIPITATION...WITH THE
MAIN SEVERE WEATHER THREAT EARLY IN THE CYCLE...PRIMARILY OVER
NORTHEASTERN WY AND FAR SOUTHWESTERN SD. AFTER THAT...SLOW-MOVING
STORMS WILL BRING A HEAVY RAIN THREAT TO THE BLACK HILLS VICINITY.
ON TUESDAY THE BIG CHALLENGE IS THE TEMPERATURE-CLOUD FORECAST.
PLENTY OF LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE...COMBINED WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR
ONGOING ELEVATED THUNDERSTORMS...MAY LIMIT HEATING THROUGHOUT MUCH
OF THE DAY. THERE SHOULD BE A BREAK IN THE STORMS TUESDAY AFTERNOON
INTO EARLY EVENING...BUT ANOTHER WEAKER WAVE SHOULD BRING SOME MORE
STORMS OVERNIGHT TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. WARMER WEATHER WILL
RETURN FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...WITH THE MOISTURE/INSTABILITY AXIS
ACROSS WESTERN SD...LEADING TO SOME AFTERNOON STORMS ONCE AGAIN.
MUCH THE SAME IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE EXTENDED WITH A WEST-SOUTHWEST
QUASI-ZONAL FLOW AND CONTINUAL WAVES BRINGING DAILY CHANCES OF
THUNDERSTORMS.
