A band of heavy snow stalled over Northern Utah, bringing copious amounts of snow to the Wasatch Front. Some mountain totals included 30 inches at Alta, 29 inches at Snowbird, 22 inches at Powder Mountain, and 21 inches at Snowbasin. In the lower elevations, Kearns reported 13 inches of snow, East Layton and South Ogden received 12 inches, and North Salt Lake checked in with 11 inches.

SYNOPSIS...LOW PRESSURE AND A MOIST UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL BE OVER THE
AREA TODAY. A COLD MOIST NORTHWEST FLOW WILL DEVELOP TONIGHT AND
PERSIST INTO SATURDAY.

DISCUSSION...A LOW LEVEL BOUNDARY HAS DEVELOPED THROUGH NORTHERN
UTAH FROM RICH COUNTY...THROUGH SALT LAKE COUNTY THEN TO SOUTHERN
TOOELE COUNTY...AND IS MOVING VERY LITTLE. A BAND OF RAIN AND SNOW
HAS DEVELOPED ALONG THIS BOUNDARY AND IS PERSISTING. SOME CLEARING
HAS TAKEN PLACE ALL ALONG THE WESTERN THIRD OF THE STATE...HOWEVER
SOME LOWER LEVEL CLOUDS HAVE DEVELOPED IN THE CLEARING AREA
ESPECIALLY OVER THE NORTH. SO I DO NOT EXPECT A LOT OF CLEARING
TODAY ALTHOUGH THE MAIN CLOUD BAND NOW OVER THE EASTERN PORTION OF
THE AREA WITH CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY TO THE EAST. PRECIPITATION
SHOULD BECOME MORE SHOWERY AS THE DAY PROGRESSES. HAVE UPDATED THE
MORNING ZONES TO INCLUDE MORE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...MAINLY ALONG THE
BENCHES...IN THE NORTHERN WASATCH AND SALT LAKE/TOOELE VALLEY ZONES
WHERE THE RAIN/SNOW BAND HAS DECIDED TO RESIDE FOR A WHILE. OTHER
ZONES HAVE MINIMAL CHANGES EXCEPT CACHE VARLLEY AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING
WHERE PROBABILITIES WERE LOWERED FOR TODAY.
