A BOUNDARY HAS LINGERED IN THE FAR NORTHERN AREAS OF FA THIS MORNING
WAITING ON COLDER AIR OVER CENTRAL PLAINS AT THIS TIME. IN
RECENT HOURS...THE BOUNDARY HAS STARTED TO SLIDE FURTHER
INTO THE CWA. SATELLITE SHOWS THE CLOUDS OVER NW KANSAS AT THIS TIME
AND SHOULD BE SAGGING INTO THE FA ONCE THE COLD AIR GETS HERE.

INDICATORS SHOW THE COLD AIR ARRIVING THIS EVENING AND SHOULD BE
THROUGH AMA SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT AND THROUGH THE CWA AROUND
DAYBREAK. COLD AIR WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD INTO THE AREA FRIDAY.
LIGHTER WINDS AND CLEARING SKIES FRIDAY NIGHT SHOULD SET THE STAGE
FOR NEAR FREEZING TEMPS IN NORTHERN SECTIONS OF THE CWA SATURDAY
MORNING. THE LONG WAVE TROUGH LIFTS EASTWARD OVER THE WEEKEND AND
SHOULD ALLOW SOME RECOVERY BY EARLY NEXT WEEK.

THE GULF OPENS UP ONCE AGAIN BEHIND THE SURFACE HIGH MOVING OFF TO
THE EAST AND COULD INCREASE THE CHANCES FOR RAIN ON COLUMBUS DAY AS
A DISTURBANCE MOVES INTO THE PLAINS. THE PATTERN REMAINS
PROGRESSIVE AS ANOTHER TROUGH MOVES OUT INTO THE PLAINS BY THE END
OF THE EXTENDED PERIOD.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL PUSH SOUTH ACROSS THE OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS
PANHANDLES TONIGHT...USHERING IN MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES FOR THE
AREA FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN
ACROSS THE AREA BEHIND THE FRONT THROUGH FRIDAY BEFORE SETTLING OVER
THE REGION FRIDAY NIGHT. THE COMBINATION OF COOLER CANADIAN AIR...
LIGHT WINDS...AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES FRIDAY NIGHT WILL ALLOW
TEMPERATURES TO REACH THE COLDEST READINGS SO FAR THIS SEASON.

WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE AND NORTHWESTERN PORTIONS
OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE MAY EXPERIENCE A LIGHT FREEZE LATE FRIDAY
NIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING AS TEMPERATURES DROP TO AROUND THE
FREEZING MARK OF 32 DEGREES. IN THE NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST PARTS
OF THE PANHANDLES...TEMPERATURES EARLY SATURDAY MORNING ARE EXPECTED
TO DROP BRIEFLY TO NEAR 33 OR 34 DEGREES. THESE AREAS HAVE THE
POTENTIAL FOR A LIGHT FROST...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS USUALLY PROTECTED
FROM THE WIND.

TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE...INCLUDING
AMARILLO...ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING...WITH THE POTENTIAL
FOR A LIGHT FROST ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS
PANHANDLE...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS USUALLY PROTECTED FROM THE WIND.
