SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 910 PM CST THU FEB 15 2001 SELS HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 20 FOR A GOOD PORTION OF CWA VALID UNTIL 2 AM CST. SINCE ZONES ALREADY MENTION THUNDERSTORMS WITH SOME LOCALLY SEVERE IN THE BODY MOST LIKELY WONT UPDATE ATTM. ONE HEFTY CALL HAS MADE ITS WAY ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE AND ACROSS VAL VERDE COUNTY INTO EDWARDS COUNTY DURING THE PAST HOUR. NO REPORTS OF SEVERE WEATHER WITH THIS STORM AS OF YET BUT RADAR DISPLAYS HAD GOOD DBZ AND VIL LEVELS WITH THE CELL PLUS A TVS ALARM. FIRST WENT WITH A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR VAL VERDE COUNTY AS IT MOVED ACROSS THE RIVER THEN UPGRADED TO TORNADO WARNING WHEN THE CELL STARTED INCREASING IN INTENSITY AND BECAME A RIGHT MOVER. THEN THE TVS ALARMED. STILL MORE ACTIVITY SOUTHWEST OF THIS INITIAL DEVELOPMENT SO LOOKS LIKE THE REST OF THIS EVENING AND EARLY FRIDAY MORNING WILL BE ACTIVE ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE HILL COUNTRY INTO CENTRAL TEXAS. GOT OUR FIRST LOOK AT SCAN IN THE NEW AWIPS LOAD. SEEMS TO BE WORKING OKAY. .EWX...NONE.
