UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL MOVE OVER NORTHERN WA THIS EVENING THEN EXIT
INTO MONTANA BY MORNING. SOME INSTABILITY SHOWERS EXPECTED OVER
NORTHERN FORECAST AREA THIS EVENING BUT BEST INSTABILITY REMAINS
OVER NORTHERN WA. CANT RULE OUT A POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORM IN NORTHERN
ZONES THROUGH THE EVENING EITHER. UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BUILD IN
THE EASTERN PACIFIC WEDNESDAY LEAVING A DRY NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT
OVER REGION WEDNESDAY AND MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. RIDGE WILL TRANSITIONS
TO THE EAST BY THURSDAY ALLOWING THE NEXT SYSTEM UPSTREAM TO SLIDE
INTO THE PAC NW. SYSTEM LOOKS LIKE IT WILL COULD COME IN AS A
NEGATIVE TILTED TROUGH SO SW ZONES WILL MAY HAVE BEST CHANCE OF
PRECIP BUT ALL ZONES EXPECTED TO RECEIVE SOME PRECIP BY LATER IN THE
DAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL REMAIN PRETTY HIGH UNTIL THURSDAY NIGHT WHEN
COOLER AIR ALOFT ARRIVES.
WINDS CONTINUE TO INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON MAINLY ACROSS WASHINGTON
AND EXTREME NORTHERN OREGON WITH HIGH WIND CRITERIA REACHED IN THE
HANFORD AREA. WILL CONTINUE HIGH WIND WARNING FOR THESE LOCATION BUT
CANCEL THE WARNING IN CENTRAL AND NORTH CENTRAL OREGON IN AFTERNOON
PACKAGE. WINDS EXPECTED TO REMAIN STRONG THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS
WITH A GRADUAL DECREASE OVERNIGHT AS 100-110KT JET WILL PASS OVER
THE PAC NW. SOLOMON
EXTENDED...A SHORT WAVE WILL MOVE THROUGH THE CWA EARLY FRIDAY...
PROVIDING A CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION FOR ALL AREAS EXCEPT EAST SLOPES
OF THE OREGON CASCADES. THEN A WEAK RIDGE BUILDS OVER THE AREA
WITH WEAK IMPULSES MOVING THROUGH IT SATURDAY-MONDAY. ON SUNDAY AND
MONDAY THERE IS LIMITED MOISTURE AND WEAK LIFT SO THAT THE
PRECIPITATION WILL BE LIMITED TO AREAS IN THE VICINITY OF
MOUNTAINS...WHERE OROGRAPHIC EFFECTS ENHANCE THE LIFT. ON TUESDAY
THE RIDGE STRENGTHENS AND THE ATMOSPHERE DRYS OUT OVER THE CWA.

High winds developed during the afternoon in the Lower Columbia Basin in Oregon. At 3 pm, sustained winds of 44 mph with gusts of 53 mph were recorded at the ASOS site at the Hermiston Airport. Farther west, a spotter in Boardman estimated wind gusts ranging from 65 to 70 mph.
