An isolated thunderstorm with strong gusty winds and 3/4 inch hail was reported 5 miles South of Cascade Locks in rural Multnomah County. No injuries were reported. The only damage reported was a few dents in the hood of a car.

CORRECTION...SNOW ADVISORY ONLY FOR SOUTH WASHINGTON CASCADES...

.GENERAL OVERVIEW...COLD FRONT WELL EAST OF THE AREA...NOW OVER
CENTRAL IDAHO. HOWEVER COOL UNSTABLE AIR CONTINUES TO PUSH INTO THE
PAC NW. UPPER LEVEL TROF NOW JUST COMING ONSHORE. SATELLITE NICELY
DEPICTS VORTICITY CENTER NEAR ASTORIA...WITH PLENTY OF SHOWERS AROUND
IT. FURTHER OFFSHORE...A STRONG JET IS PUSHING ANOTHER SYSTEM EAST
RAPIDLY. THIS WILL BECOME A KEY PLAYER IN OUR SUNDAY WEATHER.

.SHORT TERM...LOTS OF CLOUDS ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING. AS THE
VORTICITY CENTER NEAR ASTORIA PUSHES INLAND...EXPECT SHOWERS WILL
INCREASE INLAND. MAIN FOCUS WILL BE IN THE NORTH...BUT WITH SUN
BREAKS DEVELOPING THIS AFTERNOON...SHOULD DESTABLIZE THE ATMOSPHERE
OVER THE ENTIRE AREA TO TRIGGER SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.
AGAIN...MAIN THREAT WILL BE OVER THE NORTH PART OF OUR AREA AND ALONG
THE CASCADES. WILL DROP THE SNOW ADVISORY FOR THE CENTRAL OREGON
CASCADES AS DO NOT SEE ENOUGH ORGANIZED ACTIVITY TO SUPPORT ANY
SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL. EVEN THE SOUTH WASHINGTON CASCADES WILL BE
CLOSE...BUT WILL KEEP THE VERY MARGINAL ADVISORY UP AND EXTEND IT
INTO TONIGHT AND SUN AS THE NEXT SYSTEM ARRIVES.

SHOWERS DIMINISH RAPIDLY TONIGHT AS THE NEXT SYSTEM APPROACHES. RAIN
WILL INCREASE LATE TONIGHT ALONG THE COAST AND SPREAD INLAND BY
DAYBREAK SUNDAY. SYSTEM IS POTENT WITH APPRECIABLE RAINFALL EXPECTED.
HOWEVER...THE SYSTEM WILL SLOW DOWN AND DRAG ITS HEELS ACROSS THE
AREA AS THE BAROCLINIC ZONE SETS UP OVER THE AREA. LOOKS LIKE A WET
SUNDAY AND MONDAY.

.EXTENDED...NO CHANGES AT THIS TIME. SOME SHOWERS STILL AROUND
TUESDAY AS FLOW TURNS NORTHWESTERLY. BETTER WEDNESDAY...BUT STILL A
SHOWER THREAT OVER THE CASCADES. THEN APPEARS TO BE DRY THU AND FRI
AS RIDGE BUILDS.
