A strong low pressure system in Maryland early on the 30th moved to near Cape Cod late that same day. Precipitation moved in ahead of the storm around 2 PM on the 29th. Precipitation became steady that evening, then become heavy at times early on the 30th. The precipitation tapered off to showers during the afternoon and early evening. Heavy wet snow fell at elevations above 1500 feet. Rain or a mix of precipitation types fell at lower elevations. The greatest snow was at the highest elevations in eastern Delaware County with 12 inches. 7 to 9 inches fell in the Tug Hill Plateau in northeast Oneida County and in the headwaters of the Chenango River in Madison County. Water equivalent amounts were 1 to 2 inches.
