SOUTHWEST AND NORTH CENTRAL MONTANA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREAT FALLS MT 835 PM MDT THU JUL 12 2001 UPDATES PLANNED. VIGOROUS MID-LEVEL WAVE ROTATING NORTHEAST THROUGH CWA. OCCASIONALLY SEVERE CONVECTION MOSTLY CONFINED TO EASTERN CWA AS WAVE (THAT 18Z MESO-ETA RESOLVED PRETTY WELL) ROTATES TOWARD HI- LINE. WILL LIKELY DROP LIBERTY AND CHOTEAU FROM WATCH BY ZONE ISSUANCE AND LET HILL/FERGUS/BLAINE DIE AT MIDNIGHT. ANOTHER CONFINED VORTICITY LOBE NOTED OVER CENTRAL ID WITH SCATTERED CONVECTION. THIS VORT MOVING QUICKLY NORTHEAST...MOVING TO VICINITY LWT BY 06Z. SO CONVECTION LIKLEY TO HANG ON UNTIL AT LEAST MIDNIGHT WITH PARTIAL CLEARING AFTERWARDS FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST. WILL INSERT SOME AREAS OF FOG IN AREAS THAT RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL WITH PARTIAL CLEARING. TEMPERATURES PRETTY MUCH RAIN COOLED AT THIS POINT AND SHOULDN'T FALL TOO MUCH MORE WITH CLOUD COVER. WILL LEAVE THEM ALONE FOR NOW. WATER VAPOR SHOWING WELL DEFINED MOISTURE PLUME NOSING INTO ID AT THE MOMENT. THIS WILL LIKELY SET UP MORE CONVECTION TOMORROW. .EXTENDED...MRF AND ECMF IN FAIRLY GOOD AGREEMENT THROUGH THE PERIOD WITH KEEPING THE UPPER RIDGE ANCHORED OVER THE MIDWEST AND A TROUGH OVER THE NORTHWEST. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUES TO SHOW SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING TO MOVE EAST AND WEAKENING OVER EASTERN CHOUTEAU COUNTY. THE STORMS HAVE MOVED EAST OUT OF OF LIBERTY COUNTY. THEREFORE...THE THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER FOR LIBERTY AND CHOUTEAU COUNTIES HAS ENDED.
