A winter storm moving up the Tennessee Valley spread a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow to the far western sections of the Maryland panhandle. Freezing rain accumulations of over ¼ inch were reported by the afternoon of the 4th at several locations across Garrett County before the precipitation turned over to all snow. By the early morning hours of the 5th, between 1-3 inches of snow were reported over the lower elevations, while 3-6 inches accumulated along the higher ridges.
