Heavy Snow in Maine, March 9 to 10, 2001
An area of low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic coast on the 9th developed rapidly as it moved northeastward to near Nova Scotia by the morning of the 10th. Heavy snow developed over much of western Maine as the storm tracked northeastward.

An area of low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic coast on the 9th developed rapidly as it moved northeastward to near Nova Scotia by the morning of the 10th. Heavy snow developed over much of western Maine as the storm tracked northeastward. Snowfall amounts across western Maine ranged from near nothing in the mountains to more than a foot in parts of central Maine and in extreme southwestern Maine. Most areas south of the mountains received from 4 to 12 inches of snow.
