AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY
705 AM EST FRI DEC 14 2001

SFC LOW MOVING QUICKLY TO THE NNE...LATEST SFC CHART SHOWING THE
INTENSIFYING LOW NOW BETWEEN HOP AND EVV. MID LVL DRY PUNCH HAS
MOVED INTO THE CWA QUICKER THAN EXPECTED. ALSO LL DOWNSLOPE WINDS
HAVE INCREASED...AND THE MAIN PCPN BAND HAS MOVED OUT OF THE AREA
VERY QUICKLY.

WILL UPDATE ZONES TO LOWER POPS EVEN FURTHER. HOWEVER...WITH A
PLETHORA OF FRONTS AND BOUNDARIES STILL TO MOVE THRU THE AREA I AM
HESITANT TO REMOVE THE POPS ALL TOGETHER. WILL ALSO TWEAK THE WINDS
UP A LITTLE MORE. 06Z MESOETA SHOWING 45-55 KTS RIGHT OFF THE DECK
BUT VAD WIND PROFILE NOT SHOWING WINDS THAT STRONG YET.

REST OF THE FCST DISCUSSION FROM EARLIER IS THE SAME AS FOLLOWS.

FCST CONCERNS INCLUDE TIMING THE ENDING OF THE PCPN TODAY/WINDS THIS
AFTERNOON AND CLEARING TRENDS TONIGHT. MODELS ARE IN PRETTY GOOD
AGREEMENT WITH THE TRACK OF THE SFC LOW AND THE MID AND UPPER LVL
DRY SLOT THAT WORKS ITS WAY INTO THE CWA THIS AFTERNOON. SOME MINOR
DIFFERENCES STILL NOTED IN THE MODELS BUT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE MUCH
EFFECT ON THE SENSIBLE WEATHER. ALL IN ALL THE CURRENT ZONE PACKAGE
LOOKS PRETTY GOOD WITH ONLY MINOR ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED.

HAND ANALYZED SFC CHART EARLY THIS MORNING SHOWING THE MAIN LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM IS LOCATED NEAR-JUST SOUTH OF MEM. FRONTAL BNDRY
EXTENDS EASTWARD ACROSS CNTRL TN AND THEN INTO E KY. HIGH PRESSURE
OVER THE GREAT LAKES REGION. RADAR IMAGES SHOWING PCPN STEADILY
MOVING NE FROM THE TN VALLEY AND INTO THE OHIO VALLEY. THUS FAR
RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE NOT BEEN TOO HEAVY.

MODELS MOVE THE LOW NNE TODAY UP TOWARD PAH AND SDF AND ON INTO THE
OHIO VALLEY FAIRLY QUICKLY. HIGH PRESSURE SETTLES IN TONIGHT AND
MAKES WAY FOR A FAIRLY NICE SAT. AVN MODEL MOVES THE NEXT SYSTEM
INTO THE PICTURE BY SUNDAY. THIS SYSTEM APPEARS SIMILAR TO THE
CURRENT WX MAKER AT HAND ONLY THE AVN TAKES THE LOW MORE EAST AND
SLOWER AS WELL. ALL SAID AND DONE...A WET SUNDAY AFTERNOON THRU
MONDAY THE WAY IT APPEARS ATTM.

FOR TODAY WILL GO WITH LIKELY POPS AND USE MAINLY THIS MORNING TYPE
WORDING. STEEP LAPSE RATES THIS AFTERNOON MAY ALLOW SOME OF THE
STRONG LL WINDS TO MIX DOWN SO WILL BEEF UP THE WIND WORDING SOME
FOR THIS AFTERNOON. TEMPS UPPER 50S TO NEAR 60. MODELS SHOWING A LOT
OF LL RH TRAPPED IN THE LOWER LEVELS TONIGHT ALONG WITH SOME UPSLOPE
FLOW. DEBATING ON MOSTLY CLOUDY OR DECR CLOUDINESS WORDING. IF CLOUDS
DO BREAK MUCH THEN FOG WOULD BECOME A PROBLEM. WILL PLAY THE MIDDLE
OF THE ROAD FOR NOW AND MENTION FOG BUT NOT HIT IT HARD. SUNNY OR
MOSTLY SUNNY ON SAT WITH HIGHS AROUND 50 OR SO. WILL GO WITH PC SAT
NIGHT AS HIGH CLOUDS WILL BE INCR AS THE NIGHT PROGRESSES.

WILL CONTINUE WITH RAIN CHANCES ON SUNDAY BUT WILL TWEAK THE DATA
BASE TO INJECT MAINLY IN THE AFTERNOON TYPE WORDING. LOOKS LIKE
SHRAS LIKELY RIGHT ON INTO MONDAY. NOT MUCH IF ANY CHANGE PLANNED
AT THIS TIME FOR THE BULK OF THE EXTENDED.

NGM AND AVN MOS NUMBERS CLOSE AND WONT DEVIATE FAR. WHERE DIFFERENCES
OCCUR WILL USE A BLEND. WILL TRY TO HAVE WORK ZONES OUT BEFORE TOO
AWFUL LONG. COORDINATION WELCOME.

.JKL...NONE.
