SATELLITE IMAGERY PUT UPPER TROUGH OVER IOWA THIS MORNING WITH SOMEWHAT LIMITED PRECIP SHIELD AROUND THE SURFACE LOW BUT MUCH MORE ORGANIZED THUNDERSTORMS TO THE SOUTHWEST ALONG THE TRAILING COLD FRONT. THERE IS STILL GOOD CONSISTENCY AMONG THE MODELS IN MOVING THE IOWA SYSTEM TO EAST NORTHEAST DURING THIS CYCLE. A HUMID AIRMASS AHEAD OF THE SYSTEM WILL PROVIDE THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME SIGNIFICANT QPF VALUES TODAY AND INTO TONIGHT. AMOUNTS IN THE RANGE OF 1 TO 2 INCHES SHOULD OCCUR...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE NORTHWEST PORTION OF THE FORECAST AREA CLOSE TO THE TRACK OF THE VORT MAX.
