WESTERN MOUNTAINS OF OUR CWFA...WITH A NARROW AND DISSIPATING BAND
OF STRATOCUMULUS CLOUDS STREAMING OUT OF THE MIDLANDS TOWARD THE
PIEDMONT. 18Z MESO-ETA STILL ADVERTISING STRONG ISENTROPIC UPGLIDE
SETTING UP TOWARD MORNING FOR THE EXTREME SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS OF
NORTH CAROLINA...AND THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF GEORGIA AND SOUTH
CAROLINA. THE 00Z PROG OF THE MESO-ETA DOES VERIFY WELL WITH
LOCATION OF THE NARROW BAND OF CLOUDINESS...BUT SEEMS A BIT
OVER-AGGRESSIVE AT THIS POINT. WILL BACK OFF ON CLOUDS...PARTLY
CLOUDY ALL ZONES.
CLEAR SKIES...FOR NOW ANYWAY...AND LIGHT WINDS HAVE ALLOWED
TEMPERATURES TO TUMBLE RAPIDLY IN THE WEST THIS EVENING. NEWLAND AND
NORTHERN MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS ARE ALREADY AT OR BELOW THEIR FORECAST
MINS. ENCROACHING CIRRUS WILL LIMIT ADDITIONAL RADIATIONAL COOLING
THERE...AND WITH SOUTHEAST LOW LEVEL TRAJECTORY...WE SHOULD SEE
DEWPOINTS CLIMB AS PREVIOUS SHIFT EXPECTED...SO THERE WILL BE A
LIMIT TO HOW LOW THE MERCURY WILL GO...BUT WILL HAVE TO LOWER
TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN. WILL SETTLE ON 30 TO 35 FOR
THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS...35 TO 40 FOR REST OF NORTH CAROLINA
MOUNTAINS...AND NEAR 40 IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA AND GEORGIA MOUNTAINS.

Extremely low lake levels affected boating and water supplies. Many additional wells and ponds dried up, tree farms closed and many communities enacted or expanded water restrictions. Record low streamflows were observed on area streams and rivers.
