AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
343 PM EDT SUN JUN 10 2001

OVERVIEW: REMAINS OF ALLISON ALONG GULF COAST WILL SLOWLY WORK
TOWARD AL NEXT FEW DAYS. THIS MEANS SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE ON THE INCREASE AGAIN ACROSS CWA THRU TUE. ENSEMBLE SPREAD
OF SOLNS WITH REMAINS OF ALLISON BY TUE RANGE FROM MISSISSIPPI TO SW
GA WITH MOST LIKELY PLACE AL. WILL FOLLOW CONSENSUS SOLN ON THIS.
LOOK LIKE PLENTY OF MOISTURE WILL REMAIN THRU DEEP 1000-500 MB LAYER
THRU THU BEFORE SLIGHTLY DRIER AND WARMER AIRMASS MOVES IN.

SHORT TERM: SCT SHWRS AND FEW TSTORMS ACROSS S GA/AL PER LATEST
SATELLITE/RADAR PIC CONTINUE TO WORK SLOWLY NORTH. EVEN THOUGH NGM
IS FARTHER WEST THAN ETA/AVN WITH REMAINS OF ALLISION NEXT FEW
DAYS...MOISTURE FIELDS ARE RATHER CLOSE FOR CWA. PRECIP LEADING EDGE
IS ALONG THE K INDEX 30C LINE AND ALONG THE PRECIP EFFICIENCY 1.1
INCH LINE. THIS WILL MEAN SCT PRECIP WILL PUSH INTO CENTRAL GA TNGT
AND WILL REACH UP TO INTERSTATE 20 BY MONDAY. MAIN SURGE ACROSS CWA
WILL COME ON TUE. PE VALUES RISE TO 1.0 TO 1.5 INCHES. WITH A 925 TO
850 JET AND SOME UVV AND THETA-E ADVECTION...EXPECT SOME LOCALLY
HEAVY TROPICAL SHOWERS BY TUE ESPECIALLY SOUTHERN AND WESTERN CWA.
HOWEVER...3 AND 6 HR FFG VALUES ARE HIGH ENOUGH NO FFA IS NEEDED AT
THIS TIME. WITH HIGH SFC DWPTS RETURNING AND PLENTY OF CLOUDS...WILL
CUT THE DAYTIME TO NIGHTTIME TEMP RANGE PER T1 AND 850 TEMP/CLOUD
TECHNIQUES. THIS MEANS MAINLY ABV GUIDANCE AT NIGHT AND CLOSER TO
THE COOLER GUIDANCE DURING THE DAY. UKMET MODEL TEMPS SUPPORT THIS
THINKING TOO AND ARE CONSISTENT FROM YSTDYS RUN.

EXTENDED: ECMWF/UKMET/MRF ARE IN REASONABLE AGREEMENT AFTER THE
REMAINS OF ALLISON PULL AWAY...WE WILL BE LEFT WITH A WARM AND HUMID
WEATHER PATTERN MORE LIKE AUGUST. WITH PLENTY OF LOW LEVEL AND SOIL
MOISTURE AROUND NOW...EXPECT A CHANCE OF AFTERNOON AND EVENING
CONVECTION EVEN INTO THE WEEKEND THOUGH RAIN CHANCES WILL BEGIN TO
DIMINSH LATE IN THE WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND TOWARD CLIMO POPS OF 20 TO
30. WILL LEAN TOWARD SLIGHTLY COOLER DAYTIME UKMET TEMPS VERSUS
WARMER MRF MOS TEMPS IN EXTENDED SINCE MORE MOISTURE MEANS LESS TEMP
RANGE AND THIS HAS BEEN NOTED THIS WEEKEND ALREADY.
