WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY AREA - RUSKIN FL
130 PM EDT SAT JUN 16 2001

CURRENT FCST PACKAGE IN GOOD SHAPE AS SYNOPTIC TRENDS REMAIN
CONSISTENT. MEAN N TO NW FLOW WILL TURN NE...THEN E...IN THE LOWER
LAYERS WITH TIME. THIS COMBINED WITH REMNANT UPPER LEVEL ENERGY
SHOULD BOOST PCPN CHANCES FOR MORE FOLKS...MOST IMPORTANTLY TOWARD
THE NORTH SUNCOAST WHERE SUBSTANTIAL RAIN HAS NOT FALLEN IN NEARLY
10 DAYS.

MODELS ARE IN REMARKABLE AGREEMENT THROUGH THE SUNDAY...AS ALL NOW
DEPICT EMBEDDED ENERGY IN THE FORM OF SHEAR AXES BOTH SUNDAY AND
MONDAY. NGM PERHAPS A TAD DRY...BUT NO SIGNIFICANTLY SO.

SHORT TERM:
FIRST CELL DEVELOPED ALONG WCSB/TAMPA BAY BREEZE AND IS WEAKENING AS
IT SLIDES SE. OTHERWISE...DRY AIR IS OVERTAKING THE LOWER LEVELS
ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND N CWFA IN NW FLOW...AND EXPECT LITTLE
DEVELOPMENT EARLY ON. HOWEVER...WE'RE WATCHING BLOSSOMING
CONVECTION S OF TLH...AND BOUNDARIES FROM THAT MAY CAUSE SOME
DEVELOPMENT ACROSS THE NATURE COAST. FARTHER S...WILL HOLD ONTO
SCT EARLY EVENING PCPN.

FOR TONIGHT...W FLOW AHEAD OF SHEAR AXIS ON TRACK TO DEVELOP ISOLD
TO PERHAPS SCT CONVECTION IN THE N AND CENTRAL WATERS...PERHAPS
REACHING THE SHORELINE LATE. AFOREMENTIONED BOUNDARY MAY HELP THE
CAUSE...SO WILL ROLL ISOLD SHWRS/TSTMS AS CURR FCST.

SUNDAY STILL LOOKS TO BE A BIT MORE ACTIVE AS SFC TROUGH SETS UP CAMP
UNDERNEATH NNW FLOW ALOFT. SHEAR AXIS WILL ENHANCE VERTICAL
MOTION...AND MODEL SOUNDINGS REMAIN QUITE UNSTABLE WITH MAX CAPE
BETWEEN 3500 AND 4K. HIGHEST CHC WILL BE INLAND. POOLED MOISTURE
COMBINED WITH A RETURN TO NE FLOW MON SHOULD KILL THE LATE NIGHT
COASTAL PCPN AND RETURN AREA TO AFTN/EVE PROSPECTS.

EXTENDED:
NO CHANGES TO CURR FCST. MRF SHOWS YET ANOTHER DEEPENING TROUGH
(FOR THE 2ND CONSECUTIVE RUN) MOVING INTO THE E U.S. BY LATE WEEK...
AND POSSIBLE SW FLOW NEAR SFC MAY ALTER PCPN TIMING A BIT BY NEXT
SAT. UNCERTAINTY LOOMS HOWEVER...SO SEE NO REASON TO GET CUTE.

MARINE: LIGHT GRADIENT MEANS NO HIGHLIGHTS.

FIRE WX: RH FALLING TO 40 OR JUST BELOW THIS AFTN...BUT SHOULD
BE A BIT HIGHER SUN-MON AS DWPTS RETbURN TO MORE SEASONABLE LEVELS.
NO HIGHLIGHTS.

PRELIM NUMBERS:
TPA BB 077/092/074/091 1314
FMY BB 074/092/073/092 2424
