AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL 300 PM EDT TUE AUG 21 2001 MODELS HAVE KEPT SAME GENERAL TREND GOING THAT THEY BEGAN OVER THE WEEKEND. THE ONLY CHANGE I WILL MAKE TO CURRENT FORECAST TRACK IS KEEP THE POPS HIGH FOR WEDNESDAY AND THEN ONLY SLIGHT LOWERING ON THURSDAY. AS ADVERTISED EARLIER UPPER TROUGH DIGS INTO SOUTHEAST U.S. ON WEDNESDAY. THE EARLIER RUNS HAD SHOWED DRYING MOVING IN BUT NOW BEGINNING WITH LAST NIGHT 00Z RUN AND CONTINUING WITH THE 12Z MORNING RUN AS THE LOW MOVES OFF THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST A PIECE OF ENERGY GETS PINCHED OFF OVER NORTH FLORIDA INTO THE ATLANTIC AND SAGS TO THE SOUTH GETTING CUT OFF. THIS FEATURE IS CENTERED JUST OFF THE EAST COAST OF FLORIDA PUTTING US UNDER WEST TO NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. WHICH SPELLS SOME SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE FOR THE SOUTHEAST COAST. SO WILL LEAN IN THAT DIRECTION IN THE ZONES. SURFACE RIDGE WILL AGAIN BE ON TOP OF SOUTH FLORIDA SO WEAK EAST FLOW WILL CONTINUE WITH SEA BREEZE DEVELOPING ON BOTH COASTS. IN THE EXTENDED...AVN INDICATES THE LOW BEGINS PULLING TO THE NORTHEAST ON FRIDAY WHICH WILL BRING DRIER AIR SOUTHWARD. HOWEVER...WILL GIVE HIGHEST POPS FOR INTERIOR AND SOUTHEAST COAST AS THE FLOW GOES MORE SOUTHWEST EARLY IN THE EXTENDED THEN GOES BACK TO LIGHT STEERING WINDS SATURDAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK SO WILL GO BACK CLOSER TO CLIMATOLOGY.
