200 PM EDT SAT AUG 11 2001

THE SURFACE RIDGE HAS BUILD IN BETTER TODAY WITH PRESSURES SLIGHTLY
HIGHER.  THE SOUNDINGS FROM 12 UTC ALL SHOWED BETTER EASTERLY FLOW.
SO WOULD EXPECT A REPEAT OF LAST NIGHT ALONG THE EAST COAST WITH A
FEW SHOWERS MAKING IT ONSHORE LATE.  THE AFTERNOON ACTIVITY DIED
FAIRLY QUICKLY SO WILL CALL IT EARLY EVENING OVER THE INTERIOR AND
WEST.  TROPICAL WAVE IN THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE.
IT SHOULD MOVE INTO OUR AREA ON MONDAY.  HOWEVER WITH A FRONTAL
TROUGH STRENGTHENING ITSELF OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S. ABOUT THE
SAME TIME THEN THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK LOOKS LIKE A BETTER RAIN
CHANCE.  AS THE TROUGH STRENGTHENS THE SURFACE RIDGE WILL WEAKEN AS
THE WAVE MOVES IN AND WE SHOULD SWITCH INTO THE AFTERNOON AND
EVENING THUNDERSTORMS.  FOR WHATEVER UNKNOWN REASON ALL OF THE
STATISTICAL TEMPERATURES REMAIN A LITTLE TOO WARM.  HAVE BEEN
LOOKING FOR ANY AREAS OF DRY AIR BUT NONE TO BE SEEN IN THE
SOUNDINGS OR ON THE SATELLITE.  EVEN MYNN INCREASED THEIR DEEP
MOISTURE TODAY.

WITH THE SURFACE RIDGE NOT BEING THAT STRONG ANYTIME SOON...THE
MARINE FORECAST WILL FEATURE MOSTLY LIGHT WINDS.

AS FOR THE EXTENDED THE ATMOSPHERE CONTINUES TO TRY AND REPEAT THE
UPPER TROUGH OVER THE SOUTHEAST/SOUTHERN U.S. THAT IT HAS DONE ALL
THIS SUMMER.  SO WE ARE STILL DUE TO HAVE ONLY MINOR
CHANGES...ALTHOUGH IF THE SURFACE RIDGE DOES BUILD BACK AS MODELED
THEN BY LATE IN THE WEEK THE PRECIPITATION IN THE EAST ZONES SHOULD
REVERT TO THE MORNING.
