AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHERN ARIZONA TONIGHT. SCATTERED SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND INTO EARLY
NEXT WEEK...AS VERY MOIST AIR REMAINS OVER THE AREA.
.DISCUSSION...CONVECTION STILL GOING STRONG THIS EVENING...ALTHOUGH
AREAL COVERAGE HAS DECREASED. MOST CONVECTION FIRING ALONG AN OLD
OUTFLOW BOUNDARY/CONVERGENT LINE FROM THE GRAND CANYON TO SOUTH OF
PAYSON. HAD TO EXTEND THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE EASTERN PORTIONS
OF YAVAPAI COUNTY DUE TO THE STRONG STORMS IN THE AREA...ALL OTHER
PORTIONS HAVE EXPIRED. EXPECT CONVECTION TO PRETTY MUCH END BY
MIDNIGHT...WITH A LOT OF DEBRIS CLOUD AND LIGHT SHOWERS FLOATING

A two year old boy and his parents were killed in a flash flood while hiking in Havasu Canyon. Two other family members had reached the the safety of Havasupai Village before the late night storm hit.
