MOISTURE IN SOUTHERLY FLOW ALOFT WILL BRING PERIODIC CLOUDS THROUGH
MONDAY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND
DESERTS MONDAY. A DEEPENING MARINE LAYER WILL BRING MORE EXTENSIVE NIGHT
AND MORNING LOW CLOUDS AND FOG WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH MID WEEK.
OTHERWISE...FAIR AS DRIER SOUTHWEST FLOW DEVELOPS ALOFT TUESDAY INTO
NEXT WEEKEND.

THERE WERE AREAS OF COASTAL LOW CLOUDS/FOG THIS AM...LOCALLY EXTENDING
INTO WRN PART OF SAN INLAND VALLEY AREAS. OTHERWISE...MID/HI CLOUDS
MOVING UP FROM THE S. 12Z NKX SOUNDING HAD INVERSION BASED NEAR 1000 FT
AND SHOWED SLY WINDS THROUGH MID LEVELS. GRADIENTS TRENDING ONSHORE WITH
ABOUT 6 MB SAN-IPL.

MAIN FORECAST PROBLEM REMAINS THE MOISTURE MOVING UP FROM THE S. PROGS
GENERALLY INDICATE MOST OF THIS MOISTURE WILL REMAIN JUST SE OF OUR CWFA
BUT SOME WILL MAKE IT INTO OUR AREA. THE PEAK OF THIS MOISTURE SHOULD BE
OVER THE SE ZONES MON...GRADUALLY INCREASES AT MID AND HI LEVELS TODAY
AND THEN DECREASING LATE MON. THIS WILL BRING A THREAT OF AFTERNOON/EVE
THUNDERSTORMS TO THE MOUNTAINS MONDAY...AND TO LESSER EXTENT IN THE
DESERTS. HOWEVER...LOW LEVEL MOISTURE STILL LIMITED AND THE AMOUNT OF
MID/HI CLOUDS COULD ACTUALLY SUPPRESS CONVECTION MON. WILL SEE HOW CU
DEVELOPS THIS AFTERNOON...BUT NO THUNDERSTORMS IN FORECAST FOR NOW. TUE
SHOULD HAVE DRIER SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT. UPPER LOW MOVING INTO PAC NW
WITH TROUGH EXTENDING S OFF CA COAST THROUGH TUE. THIS WILL BRING
GRADUALLY DECREASING HEIGHTS/THICKNESS/850 MB TEMPS LOCALLY AND HELP TO
DEEPEN MARINE LAYER FOR COOLING TREND AND MORE NIGHT/MORNING LOW CLOUDS/
FOG W OF MOUNTAINS.

LONGER RANGE PROGS INDICATE UPPER TROUGH LINGERING AROUND OFF THE PAC NW
COAST WITH BASICALLY DRY SW FLOW ALOFT AND LITTLE CHANGE WED. UPPER HI
SLOWLY BUILDS ALOFT DURING THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEK FOR A GRADUAL
WARMING TREND AND DECREASING MARINE LAYER.
