SOUTHWEST ARIZONA/SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA FORECAST DISCUSSION.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
236 PM MST SUN NOV 4 2001
.SYNOPSIS...
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ON THE NORTHWEST BAJA AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
COASTLINE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE TO THE EAST. IT WILL BE THE PRIMARY
INFLUENCE ON THE WEATHER ACROSS SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHWEST
ARIZONA UNTIL AT LEAST TUESDAY EVENING...BRINGING CLOUDS AND SHOWERS
...AS WELL AS SOME COOLER TEMPERATURES. THE THREAT OF SHOWERS WILL
END FOR SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND FAR SOUTHWEST ARIZONA MONDAY...BUT
WILL CONTINUE FOR THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA INTO
TUESDAY. ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE SOME COOLING AS THE LOW PASSES OVER
THE REGION...HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN MOSTLY AT OR
ABOVE NORMAL.
.DISCUSSION...
UPPER LOW NOW APPEARS TO BE ON THE SRN CA AND NW BAJA COASTLINE...
AND IT IS BEING NUDGED EWD BY A SYSTEM MOVING TOWARDS WRN CAN. THE
AVN SEEMS TO BE DOING THE BEST IN HANDLING THE SRN CA LOW. SO FAR...
ALL THE PRECIPITATION ON METAR HAS BEEN VERY LIGHT. MOST IS LIKELY
MANIFESTING AS VIRGA AND NOT REACHING THE GROUND. SHOULD SEE MORE
MEASURABLE RAINFALL TONIGHT AND MON AS THE LOW MOVES OVER THE AREA
AND MORE AND STRONGER DYNAMICS COME INTO PLAY. LOOK FOR A SLIGHT
CHANCE OF TSTMS MON OVER THE CENTRAL AND ERN CWA AS THE AIR BECOMES
MORE UNSTABLE. P-WATER HAS INCREASED ACROSS ON THE SELY FLOW THAT
HAS DEVELOPED PRECEDING THE LOW. WEAK TROUGH FOLLOWS THIS ONE AROUND
WED...BUT WILL GENERALLY AFFECT AREAS N. NEXT ONE OF CONSEQUENCE FOR
OUR AREA WILL LIKELY BE NEXT WEEKEND. MRF CONTINUES TO GIVE THE NEXT
WEEKEND SYSTEM MORE THAN ITS DUE. THE ENSEMBLES...ET AL...SUGGEST A
TROUGH FOR THE WEEKEND...BUT IT APPEARS IT MIGHT BE WEAKER THAN THE
MRF SUGGESTS. FOR NOW...WILL SHOW SOME COOLING FOR SAT AND SUN...BUT
WILL FOREGO MENTIONING ANY PRECIPITATION AS YET. NOGAPS BRINGS THIS
SYSTEM IN 24 HRS FASTER THAN THE MRF. SINCE MODELS DO NOT AGREE...
WILL WAIT AND SEE A BIT LONGER. WILT
.PSR...NONE
