High Wind in Alaska, September 11, 2001
A rapidly deepening low in the central Aleutians late Monday wound up near Dutch Harbor as a 976 mb center by 10 pm Tuesday. The low then moved east and began to weaken Wednesday.

A rapidly deepening low in the central Aleutians late Monday wound up near Dutch Harbor as a 976 mb center by 10 pm Tuesday. The low then moved east and began to weaken Wednesday. Strong northwesterly winds were reported on the back side of the storm.Northwest wind gusts of 62 mph were reported around Atka between 8:55 pm and 9:15 pm ADT Wednesday. Wind gusts near 60 mph were still reported as late as 4:15 pm ADT AST Thursday.
