High Wind, Kodiak Peninsula

Strong northwest winds, on the back side of a Gulf of Alaska low, locally reached warning levels across portions of Kodiak Island Friday. Winds at the other 2 reporting sites on the Island did not reach warning levels...and in fact, only marginally climbed into the 40 -50 mph range. Satellite imagery was used to determine most likely areas that were impacted during the event. Northwest wind peaked at 68 mph at Sitkinak Friday morning at 4 am AST.
