Blizzard and High Wind in Alaska, December 25 to 26, 2001
With High pressure over Canada, a 977 mb Low moved from the central gulf of Alaska northwest to Bristol Bay on the morning of the 26th, then to southwest Alaska on the afternoon of the 26th. This caused strong easterly winds to develop over the Deltana-Tanana Flats zone, and moderate northerly winds with blowing snow to develop through the Bering Strait.

With High pressure over Canada, a 977 mb Low moved from the central gulf of Alaska northwest to Bristol Bay on the morning of the 26th, then to southwest Alaska on the afternoon of the 26th. This caused strong easterly winds to develop over the Deltana-Tanana Flats zone, and moderate northerly winds with blowing snow to develop through the Bering Strait. Wind gusts reached 55 mph at the Delta Juction ASOS, and blizzard conditions occurred at Tin City near the Bering Strait.
